Braintree Town Hall has been shortlisted as a finalist for next year’s Essex Wedding Awards, in the category celebrating historical venues.
These awards shine a light on the best in the wedding industry and have been recognising talented businesses from across the county for the past 13 years.
The town hall opened in 1928 and its design provides an insight into civic pride and the artistic expression of that era. The murals painted on the ceilings complement the original interior décor including the rich wood panelling and Portland stone fireplaces and mantle pieces.
With many of the original features still intact, the council owned venue offers an elegant and memorable setting for weddings.
Cllr Charley Dervish, Lead Member for Art, Heritage and Culture at Braintree District Council, said: “We’re thrilled that Braintree Town Hall has been recognised as a finalist for these awards. It’s a testament to the unique charm and historic beauty of the venue, which has been part of our community for nearly 100 years. The original features and timeless elegance offer couples a special place to celebrate their wedding day. Being shortlisted in the category of historical venues is fitting and we look forward to the awards ceremony next month.”
The winners from each category will be announced at an awards dinner at Chelmsford Racecourse on Thursday, 21 November 2024.
