The newly enhanced Ramsey Road Recreational Ground in Halstead is now open for family-fun and fitness.
With a new state-of-the-art skatepark, an expanded play area with accessible equipment for young children, relaxing hammocks for older children, and a modern outdoor gym.
These transformative upgrades were made possible through Section 106 funding secured through the planning process by Braintree District Council from the developer of Oak Road. Braintree District Council continues to utilise and negotiate Section 106 funding from housing developments to benefit communities across the district.
The project was guided by extensive community engagement, including focus groups to ensure the new facilities met the needs of residents of all ages.
To celebrate the completion, the Chairman of Braintree District Council Councillor Lyn Walters, along with The Mayor of Halstead, Councillor Andy Munday as well as local councillors and representatives, visited the park last Friday, August 9, to look at the new facilities firsthand.
Councillor Tom Cunningham, Cabinet Member for Transformation, the Environment, and Customer Services at Braintree District Council, said: "We are delighted the work to Ramsey Road Recreational Ground is complete and seeing the community enjoying the upgraded facilities. These long-awaited improvements reflect our dedication to enhancing the quality of life for our residents. Thank you to everyone who participated in the consultation process and focus groups."
Braintree District Council, in partnership with local volunteers, businesses and other partner organisations, will be hosting a Skatepark Jam event on Saturday, August 24 from 2pm to 6pm, featuring live music, talented demonstrations and skate and BMX sessions for the community to get involved in.
