Braintree District Council has opened the third round of its Community Gardens and Open Spaces Fund, encouraging local charities and community groups to share their green space vision.
Funding is available for the creation of green projects in local neighbourhoods which are accessible to all of the community and align with one or more of the Council’s key climate change outcomes.
The Community Gardens and Open Spaces Fund aims to fund the creation of a community garden or orchard, the improvement of an existing community garden or the improvement of an open space for community use.
The Fund offers up to £4,000 per application and the deadline by which final applications should be submitted is Friday 13 September 2024.
The Community Gardens and Open Spaces Fund has received £41,825 from the UK Government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund.
Applications for this grant are now open and further details about the Community Gardens and Open Spaces funding, including the application form can be found on the Braintree District Council website: https://www.braintree.gov.uk/community/community-gardens.
Councillor Tom Cunningham, Cabinet Member for Transformation, the Environment and Customer Services, and Deputy Leader at Braintree District Council said: ”I'm thrilled to announce this initiative which gives local communities a chance to create vibrant green spaces in our neighbourhoods and local area.
“Community gardens offer so much more than just a place to plant trees and grow plants. They foster a sense of connection, promote environmental awareness and provide opportunities for residents of all ages to come together.
“I look forward to seeing many interesting applications and seeing these gardens flourish across our community."
