The awards, sponsored by Braintree Village, provide an opportunity to celebrate and recognise the work done by those who give their time to help their communities become better, healthier places to live, work and play.

The Braintree District Volunteer Awards have been running since 2017 and the Active Braintree Sports awards have been running since 2014. Last year, they merged to become the Braintree District Volunteer and Active Braintree awards.

Nominations are accepted across all sectors including arts, sports, community, and culture across ten categories.

The categories are:

  • Going the Extra Mile
  • Volunteer Group
  • Outstanding New Volunteer
  • Health & Wellbeing Award
  • Sports Personality of the Year (Adult)

Cllr Mary Cunningham, Cabinet Member for Supporting Communities, said: “These awards are a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the hard work of our amazing volunteers across the Braintree district.”

John Wood, Chairman of Active Braintree Foundation, said: “These awards give us the opportunity to recognise those people, within our community, who give their time to support others as well as honouring the sporting achievements of our sports men and women.”
