A statement from our Chairman as Colchester is granted city status.
Cllr Andrew Hensman, Chairman of Braintree District Council, said: “We are delighted to hear that Colchester has been granted City Status in honour of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee and wish to congratulate them on this huge honour.
“This is positive news not only for the Borough, but the wider North Essex area and we look forward to seeing a new wave of investment in the area.
“The successful City Status bid will also bring a boost in terms of tourism to North Essex, and we will extend a warm welcome to guests who also choose to visit Braintree District.”
