OUR People - men's sheds

Men’s sheds

Men’s sheds are friendly, community-based spaces where people can come together to connect, share skills and work on practical projects such as making, repairing or repurposing items.

They offer a relaxed and welcoming environment for conversation, creativity and companionship, helping to reduce loneliness and support wellbeing while contributing positively to the local community.

Great Yeldham Men's Shed

Recreation Ground Pavillion, Toppesfield Road, Great Yeldham, Essex, CO9 4HB

Great Yeldham Men's Shed has been operating since 2023 and provides a space for men to come together, talk and learn new skills.

Great Yeldham Men's Shed is housed in three former containers that have been converted into a workshop with electrics, benches, as well as power tools and generator. The shed has a focus on woodwork and they make items to order for local projects such as picnic tables as well as items to sell such as clocks.

Halstead Community Shed

Fenn Road, Halstead, CO9 2HG

Halstead Community Shed is a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO) that was initially established to create a Men’s Shed in Halstead. Although the project still features a Men’s Shed, it has now grown and expanded into the "Wellbeing at the Shed" initiative.

The shed’s main focus is on community projects such as making, repairing and restoring items for other charities, community groups and schools etc. These Activities include woodworking and metalworking, but they will turn their hands to most things!

Cressing Temple Community Shed

Cressing Temple Barns, Cressing, CM77 8PD

The Shed's purpose is to share skills and experiences, provide a haven to combat loneliness and isolation and to add value to communities.

The community shed is an opportunity to use your skills in wood working, hobbying or any other specialist areas of making/repairing/up-cycling or just to meet up for a chat and a cuppa, sometimes with cake and with other Shedders.
