Stories and case studies
Behind every successful business or community is a story worth telling. Meet some of the local people and organisations contributing to our district's success, from family-run enterprises to award-winning innovators.
Growing the Good Life
There isn’t much in life that beats delicious freshly baked bread, just-laid eggs or pesticide-free veg, grown a mere minute’s walk away.
But locals buying from The Good Life in Witham are also supporting 12 year old Jess who, with mum Steph’s support, is building a little sustainable empire to help fund her future studies.

Turning e-waste into opportunity
KOcycle is turning IT waste into a force for good. Since moving into the district three years ago, they’ve tripled their team, grown rapidly and become part of a successful business community.
Braintree offers the perfect conditions for growth: competitive real estate, excellent transport links, a skilled and enthusiastic local workforce, and a network of forward thinking companies.

Buzzing about local honey
Amy Bearman is the face behind the Little Yellow Beehive, a local honey business nestled in an idyllic corner of Silver End.
With just a few months of beekeeping under her belt, Amy already has three thriving hives. She was buzzing to talk to us about little ways to help bees and the benefits of local honey.
Royal recognition for Witham manufacturer
Aconda Industrial Carriers in Witham has been awarded the prestigious King’s Award for Enterprise in Innovation - one of the world’s highest business honours.
This accolade recognises the company’s ground breaking work in transforming how heavy loads are moved in challenging, confined and hazardous environments.

Sticky Pickle puts down roots
You may have spotted the award winning Sticky Pickle Company at our monthly street markets, selling boldly flavoured chutneys, colourful pickles and sweet, spicy chilli jams, all lovingly made by Braintree local, Ian Beaird.
Now the Sticky Pickle Company has stuck! Ian has moved into permanent premises in Blake House Craft Centre, just outside Rayne.

Braintree's BAFTA makers
Behind the world-famous BAFTA award lies a remarkable local success story.
Braintree-based AATi Cast Metal Products crafts around 400 BAFTA masks each year, combining advanced technology with traditional foundry skills.
Established in 1934, the company's expertise has earned international recognition, showcasing the exceptional manufacturing talent and craftsmanship found within our district.
