This privacy notice covers the information we when you sign up to publications or take part in our events. The information we collect and hold depends on what you contact us about.

support and promote campaigns, workshops and events
follow up a service request, complaint or to take other action requested by or agreed with you
understand your needs to provide the services that you request
understand what we can do for you and inform you of other relevant services and benefits
obtain your opinion about our services
provide you with relevant information, including information about local emergencies
use images, videos and quotes from you where we have your permission to do so
evaluate and improve our performance
derive statistics which inform decisions about future delivery of services

We may also use your information for statistical purposes to
provide reports on the use of websites
the use of social media accounts
to help us monitor and develop our services.

We will not include information in our statistics that can be used to identify you.

If you have provided your explicit consent by completing our photo consent form we may use photos in our marketing material, including social media, to promote our events or services.

Providing accurate information
It is important that we hold accurate and up to date information about you. This helps us assess your needs and deliver appropriate services.

You must tell us immediately if any of your details change so that we can update your records.

We may share your information with other departments within the Council to follow up a service request, complaint or other action requested by or agreed with you.

We will only share your personal information with third parties if you have given us your explicit consent.

We will only disclose information to other organisations if we have a legal duty to release data to:

prevent or detect crime
protect public funds

We may share the personal data you provide on social media with our suppliers of these systems.

This includes:
your social media user name
any correspondence you send through social media
personal information you include in your (such as your address)

We include data sharing in this way in our contract with the supplier. Our contract makes sure that information handled in line with data protection laws.
Data retention
We only keep your data for as long as necessary.

We keep your personal information for two years after all action on your enquiry has finished.

After this time, we destroy your information in a secure way.

Data you shared with us on social media is stored on those social media sites. You need to check the privacy notices or terms and conditions of your social media sites for more information.
