This privacy notice covers the information we need to consider your licensing application.

We need to collect, store and process personal information to assess your licensing application.

We hold and process all personal information in line with data protection legislation.
Categories of personal data
We process your data to assess your licensing application (excluding hackney carriage and private hire licences).

The data we hold about you will include:
titles
names
addresses
phone numbers
email addresses
date of birth
National Insurance number
Bank account details (for scrap metal dealers)
other relevant information such as proof of identity, right to work documents and insurance details

We will also keep sensitive or other special categories of personal data such as criminal convictions following a DBS check.

If you do not provide the information we ask for we cannot deal with your enquiry. If you are applying for a licence we may not be legally able to grant it.

Providing accurate information
It is important that we hold accurate and up to date information about you. This helps us assess your needs and deliver appropriate services.

You must tell us immediately if any of your details change so that we can update your records.

To assess your licensing application we may need to share your information with

We will check information with other sources to make sure the information you have provided and we hold about you is accurate.

As part of Animal Welfare applications, we will share your information with a nominated vet for to make inspection arrangements.

We will enter information on statutory registers including making it available to the public.

We will only disclose information to other organisations if we have a legal duty to release data to:
prevent or detect fraud
prevent or detect crime
protect public funds
Data retention
We only keep your data for as long as necessary.

We keep your personal information for six years after:
your licence has expired
we have resolved an unsuccessful application
we have resolved legal proceedings.

After this time, we destroy your information in a secure way.
