The Conservation Area for Kelvedon was originally approved on 19 June 1969.
On 9 November 1989, an amendment was made to:
- Include extensions to the existing Conservation Area, including the meadow to the south-east of the railway line and the new development off Feering Hill, both of which were considered to be of sufficient quality for inclusion within the Conservation Area.
- Exclude four areas because they contained more recent development that did not meet Conservation Area standards.
