Biodiversity net gain requirements were introduced by the Environment Act 2021 and will go live nationally on 12 February 2024. In advance of this introduction Braintree District have adopted guidance drafted in collaboration with the Essex Planning Officers Association to assist developers and members of the public understand forthcoming net gain requirements.
This is interim guidance only and will be altered to reflect further changes which emerge following progress of the legislation through parliament and following publication of the Local Nature Recovery Strategy.
