Drugs - Proposed Criminal Convictions Policy changes 2021

Sex and Indecency Offences Existing period of time in which a licence would be granted, from completion of sentence or from date of conviction. Proposed period of time in which a licence would be granted, from completion of sentence or from date of conviction.
Supply of drugs A licence will not be granted where the application has a conviction for an offence related to the supply of drugs  At least 10 years elapsed since the completion of any sentence imposed

Possession of drugs

A licence will not normally be granted where an applicant has more than one conviction for offences related to the possession of drugs and has not been free of conviction for 5 years At least 10 years elapsed since the completion of any sentence imposed

Isolated conviction related to the possession of drugs 

 

Within Last 3- 5  years (consideration to nature and quantity of drugs) At least 10 years elapsed since the completion of any sentence imposed
If the applicant was an addict Required to show evidence of 5 years free from drug taking after detoxification treatment At least 5 years elapsed since completion of any sentence imposed and a requirement to undergo drug testing at their own expense to demonstrate that they are not using controlled drugs
