To make your application you will need to tell us:
- your name address and contact details
- your email address
- the location of the site
- the type of property; house, flats, non-residential and so on
- if the properties are new or existing
- the details of the new and old names and numbers
- a location plan, showing the site clearly outlined
- for new developments, a copy of the site plan indicating plot numbers and floor plans for flats.
You can only apply for street naming and numbering if you own the property. If you do not own the property, you will need to send us the owner’s written permission that you are acting for them.
Once you have sent your application, you will need to contact us to pay the correct fee.
When we have approved your application we will:
- contact you to let you know
- notify the relevant bodies of new addresses

- District Valuation Office
- Essex Highways
- the emergency services

Fees
We do not charge VAT on street naming and numbering fees.
Existing properties
- 1 dwelling; £40.00
New properties
- 1 dwelling; £40.00
- 2 to 5 dwellings; £30.00 per dwelling
- 6 to 25 dwellings; £25.00 per dwelling
- 26 to 75 dwellings; £20.00 per dwelling
- 76 plus dwellings; £15.00 per dwelling
A building, a block of flats or industrial estate;
- 1 unit; £50.00
- 2 to 5 units; £30.00 per unit
- 6 to 15 units; £20.00 per unit
- 16 plus units £15.00 per unit
