Rural Prosperity Fund

Eligibility for the fund

You can only apply if you are a legally recognised organisation, such as a:

  • public sector organisation
  • higher and further education institution
  • private sector company
  • voluntary organisation
  • registered charity

To be eligible for the Rural England Prosperity Fund (REPF), your organisation must have a business bank account, personal accounts are not accepted.

Individuals are not eligible to apply for this funding.

What REPF Cannot Fund

REPF cannot be used for:

  • Purchasing farming equipment or infrastructure
  • Diversifying within agriculture
  • Costs already covered by other funding sources

If your project falls into these categories, you should explore existing Defra grant schemes instead.

What REPF Can Support

REPF can provide capital grants for small-scale investments in micro and small enterprises located in rural areas. This includes projects that diversify farm businesses outside of agriculture, such as:

  • Developing rural leisure facilities
  • Creating tourism-based services or attractions

  • Type of spend

    The Rural England Prosperity Fund (REPF) only funds capital projects. This means the funding must be used to purchase or improve assets such as buildings or equipment that have a useful life of more than 3 years.
