The Glebe is an important open space facility to the north of Braintree owned and maintained by Braintree District Council. The park currently has facilities including a children’s play area and football goals, along with an area of woodland.
Over the last few years Braintree District Council funding has helped improve the children’s play area and allowed for the ongoing maintenance of the existing facilities.
The Potential Open Space Improvements plan has highlighted the need for upgrades to the park and access within the woodland, and this has led to the allocation of Section 106 funding from local developments being assigned to the park. These developments have now been built and Braintree District Council has agreements that provide funding to spend specifically on the park improvements.
The suggested improvements, incorporated on the concept plan, include:
- Improve the area around Glebe Hall
- Improve surfacing within the woodland to increase accessibility
- Install rebound goal to replace one existing football goal
