Update for residents in communal properties
Thank you for your patience while we work through introducing the new waste collection service at properties with shared bins. We’re continuing to work closely with Managing Agents, Landlords and Housing Associations to get everything in place, but some changes still need further discussion and agreement.
In the meantime, you can keep using your current communal bins and your existing recycling bins, and you can also start recycling some new items right away, including:
- Glass bottles and jars (with lids)
- Soft plastics, such as film and carrier bags
- Food and drink cartons (e.g. Tetra Pak)
We’re planning to introduce separate paper and card collections, along with new food recycling, by September.
Food recycling will be rolled out in phases between June and September. We’ll be working with Managing Agents and Landlords to deliver communal food bins to bin stores, as well as individual food caddies and liners for residents. When these are delivered, you’ll receive a leaflet with simple guidance on how everything works.
We’ve extended the period to introduce these changes to make sure everything runs smoothly and that, together with managing agents and landlords, we can support residents throughout. More information will be shared shortly.
