Braintree District Council hosted a ‘Dog Day’ in Halstead Public Gardens as part of the Halstead Safer Streets programme on Saturday 20 April.
A total of 49 new members signed up to Dogwatch at the event, an Essex Police initiative that encourages dog owners to report anything unusual they spot as part of their daily dog walks.
Over 200 people attended the event, visiting the stalls and taking part in the fun family dog show and children’s dog trail.
Visitors could talk to local services such as Essex Police, Essex County Fire and Rescue Service, Essex Therapy Dogs, Dogs Trust, Danaher Animal Home, United in Kind, Halstead Leisure Centre, Grow with the Flow and local businesses such as Pup Chic Boutique and Paws, Chores and Snores.
Councillor Mary Cunningham, Cabinet Member for Stronger Communities at Braintree District Council, said: “It’s fantastic to see that the local community engaged with this event and the opportunity to find out more about the Safer Streets Project in Halstead as well as sign up for the Dogwatch scheme.”
