About the inquiry

The Planning Inspectorate has received an appeal against a planning application submitted relating to a site at Land at Brain Valley Avenue, Black Notley.

The appeal is for a residential development of up to 90 dwellings, with all matters reserved except access. The appeal has been made by Gladman Developments.

The Secretary of State appointed a Planning Inspector. 

The hearing will start at 10:00am on 14 December 2021 to determine this appeal.

The event will take place at the Braintree District Council offices at:

Causeway House
Bocking End

The event will also be livestreamed to our Committee Youtube Channel.

Inquiry Attendance Information

Prior to the commencement of the inquiry, if you would like to give your views as a third party, you must contact the Planning Inspectorate Case Officer.

You should also include the Planning Inspectorate reference in your email to the Case Officer.

Participation is at the Planning Inspector’s discretion.

Joining the inquiry

Before deciding whether to take an active part in the inquiry, you need to think carefully about the points you wish to make.

All representations sent during the assessment of the planning application and appeal stage will be taken into account by the Inspector and re-stating the same points won’t add any additional weight to them.

If you feel that taking part in the Hearing is right for you in whatever capacity, you can participate in a number of ways.

If you just wish to observe the event, you can do so:

  • in person by visiting the Council’s Offices at Causeway House
  • by visiting our Youtube Channel

If you like to participate in the hearing, for example to give your views, you can do this too.

In order to participate, you will need to visit the Council’s Offices at Causeway House and be present during the event.

You can also take part using video. Such participants will need to have access to Microsoft Teams (via an app or web browser). If you are not sure how to use teams you can visit the microsoft website  for help and guidance.

If you will be visiting the Council’s Offices either to observe or participate in the hearing, and you have additional access requirements, the Council has adequate provisions to accommodate your needs.

If you want to take an active part but feel unable to for any reason, and/or the points you want to make are not covered in the evidence of others, consider whether someone else could raise them on your behalf.

Registered participants in whatever capacity will receive individual joining instructions, providing details of any requirements, guidance and support.
