Council has decision to refuse 80 homes in Finchingfield upheld at appeal
Council decision upheldPublished: Friday, 20th October 2017
Braintree District Council has had its decision to refuse a planning application for the development of up to 80 homes on a site on land off Wethersfield Road in Finchingfield upheld at appeal.
The council refused the planning application in February but the promoters (Gladman Developments Ltd) lodged an appeal with the Planning Inspectorate soon after.
A Public Inquiry was held in September.
Cllr Lynette Bowers-Flint, Cabinet Member for Planning and Housing, said: “We’re pleased that our decision to refuse the application has been so strongly supported by the Planning Inspector who agreed that the harm caused to the setting of neighbouring listed buildings, the Finchingfield Conservation Area and the landscape character of the area outweighed the benefits of new housing in this location.”
