"We are creating a modern, flexible and sustainable business park which is attracting investment, offering opportunities for businesses and creating jobs for local residents.”

New milestone reached at Braintree District Council’s new 65-acre business, innovation and logistics park.

Construction work has finished on three units set for logistics or light industrial use at the Horizon 120 business innovation and logistics park in Great Notley, Braintree.

Commercial property developer The Marshgate Group has delivered the scheme on behalf of a major pension fund.

Councillor Kevin Bowers and senior officers met with owners of The Marshgate Group to celebrate and mark the milestone this week.

The buildings will be used for the purposes of logistics and distribution or the manufacture of goods or both. There is an expansive space for a warehouse or factory, offices on the first floor, parking and a secure yard.

The new units have been built to a high specification and comply with sustainable environmental standards. At least 30% of the energy supplied to the buildings will be from a renewable source, such as solar panels.

All three units are on the market and available to let. The scheme is already attracting significant interest from a number of potential occupiers.

Braintree District Council sold the plots to The Marshgate Group for development just under nineteen months ago.

Cllr Kevin Bowers, Cabinet Member of Assets, Housing and Skills at Braintree District Council, said: “This marks an important milestone in the growth of Horizon 120 as a strategic location for businesses. We are creating a modern, flexible and sustainable business park which is attracting investment, offering opportunities for businesses and creating jobs for local residents.”

David Warburton, Managing Director of The Marshgate Group, commented: “We are delighted to have completed this “best in class” speculative development on behalf of a major pension fund. It is a unique “mid box” offering for the North Essex industrial market where there is a scarce supply of prime space. With the other recent developments completed for occupiers such as British Off Site and Careco, Horizon 120 has now been transformed into one of the most strategic and significant industrial, R&D and logistics parks in the region.”

Horizon 120 is a new 65 acre business, innovation and logistics park which offers light industrial, research & development and office space.
