Bocking Windmill will be hosting its first big open day of the year to coincide with Bocking May Fayre this Monday 2 May.

The historic windmill will be open to the public between 11am and 5pm for visitors to explore and enjoy as well as learn about its history dating back over 300 years.

Bocking Windmill will also be hosting some stalls on site as part of the May Day celebrations including the World Scout Jamboree who will be selling cakes, cookies, drinks and sweets, KT’s Gifts selling wreaths, centrepieces, garlands and flower bears, GC Melts selling wax melts and more stalls to be announced!

Visitors to Bocking Windmill can explore the windmill for free, but donations are welcomed to help with the upkeep of the mill so that it can stay in good condition and be enjoyed for many years to come. Visitors can donate on the day or online at https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/bockingwindmill2

Cllr Frankie Ricci, Cabinet Member for Communities, said: “Following two years of the pandemic, it is excellent that Bocking Windmill can now open for regular open days once again. We saw fantastic attendance at the 300th birthday open day last year and hope the return of the Bocking May Fayre will help us see high numbers once again for this landmark of the Braintree District.”

The Bocking Village Fayre is a much beloved event which takes place every May Day. Alongside stalls, food, fun and games, the annual Flower Festivals also take place over the weekend in both Bocking churches.
