Blue badge holders

Apply for a blue badge

Blue badge scheme booklet are responsible for blue badge permits

Blue badge holders may park in any Braintree District Council pay and display car park and normal tariffs will apply. Especially wide designated bays are available in some car parks although blue badge holders may use any normal parking bays if desired. A blue badge must be clearly displayed in the windscreen of the vehicle while parked.

Before you apply please ensure you have the below information:

  • Proof of identification required
  • National Insurance number required
  • Details of your current Blue Badge, if you have one
  • Digital or signed photo required
  • Proof of residency required

Once you have applied:

If you’re refused:

  • we will tell you why you’re not eligible for a Blue Badge.
  • You can ask us to reconsider your case if you don’t think all the important information you provided was taken into account.
  • You can also re-apply if your mobility problems become more serious.

Is there a time limit?

Please refer to the tariff boards for the car park you are parking in. Where there are yellow line restrictions on the street usually up to 3 hours parking is allowed providing the vehicle is not causing an obstruction. Unless parked in a disabled bay blue badge holders should not park in a controlled parking zone.
