Braintree's Essex Energy Switch

What is Braintree's Essex Energy Switching Scheme?

The Scheme aims to help residents get a better deal on their gas and/or electricity bills. The scheme is delivered in partnership with iChoosr an independent company that helps group people together to switch suppliers in order to get the best price.

If you've never switched energy supplier or if it has been a number of years, then your savings are likely to be high. Even if you do switch regularly it is still worth making a Registration to see if you could get a cheaper tariff.

What savings can be made?

Average household savings are typically £150 a year.

How does the free scheme work?

Residents apply via an online Registration form giving personal details and energy data.  After this, an auction is held where energy companies compete against each other to provide their best possible tariffs. Auctions are held throughout the year in February, May and October.

Everyone who registers will receive a personalised offer based on their annual usage. The offer shows how much they could save by switching provider or tariff.

The winning supplier may be your current supplier therefore, you wouldn't switch supplier, but just be offered a cheaper tariff.

Offers are sent out giving approx. 4 weeks to decide whether to change supplier and/or tariff or not. The tariffs are usually for a 12 month time period.

How can I register?

Registration opens for the Spring auction on Wednesday 1st April until Monday 18th May 2020 with the auction date of Tuesday 19th May 2020.

Offers will be sent out from Tuesday 2nd June and acceptances must be received by Tuesday 30th June 2020.

It is free to make a Registration and there is no obligation to switch.
