Braintree District Council’s preferred method for the submission of planning applications is online, via the online planning portal or via iApply. Both solutions allow you to fill in application forms and certificates, attach drawings, pay the application fee, and send your application to the Council over the Internet.
Please note that all plans need to be in PDF format.

All planning applications require a site location plan and block plan showing the location and boundaries of the site. The Planning Portal provides a 'Buy a Plan' service where you can purchase appropriate location and block plans for your application.
Emailing your application
We are happy to receive your application by email. There is a maximum email size limit of 10Mb so you may need to split your email messages. Please send your application documents to firstname.lastname@example.org. We will confirm receipt by email within two working days. If you have not heard from us after this time, please contact us by telephone.
Please can you include in your message how you wish to make the planning payment (however, you should not include bank or card details in your message). We can arrange for a payment to made over the telephone by calling 01376 557779. If you wish to pay by cheque, this should be sent to the Validation Team, Development Management, Causeway House. Cheques should be payable to Braintree District Council and quote the site address on the back. Please note that a cheque payment will delay the processing of your application.
