Parish Emergency Planning

Parishes - Community Resilience

Parish Councils

Parish Councillors, Clerks, and volunteers can play a huge role in contributing to the work of local emergency responders and reducing the impact of an emergency on the community, both in the short and long term. All 54 Parish and Town Councils have completed community emergency plans for their areas, these plans will continue to be developed by identified representatives from your local Town or Parish Council on an annual basis.

There will be times when emergency responders have to prioritise their resources to an area where the needs are greater, especially if there is a danger to life within a community. There may be difficult times where you are affected by an incident, but the impacts to your community are not as severe as a neighbouring community. In times like these, this is where your community emergency plan will assist you and those around you in being more resilient.

The Council is dedicated to supporting Parish Councils in developing their emergency plans and a new Council initiative to launch soon seeks to recognise the outstanding work that local community leaders conduct every year.
