Frequently asked questions

What is the Council’s role in a major incident?

In the initial aftermath of a major incident, the primary concerns of the Council will be to provide support to the emergency services/other responding agencies, continue to provide normal services as best practicable to the community and use resources to mitigate the effects of the incident.

As the incident starts to die down, the emphasis of the Council will switch from response to recovery and the Council will take a leading role to facilitate the return to normality of the community and aim to resolve any potential environmental issues.
