What is a Green Heart champion?

If you’ve got a local issue you want to tackle whether it’s to clean up a local grot spot, give a local area of green space a boost or create a new wildlife habitat – why not become a Green Heart Champion.

Our champions, formerly known as Community Champions, are volunteers who work with us to help keep our district clean or keep our countryside and environment thriving.

  • As a Green Heart Champion you would work with us to help monitor and improve your local area.  You would act as our eyes and ears by reporting issues in your area or near your home such as potholes, weeds, dog fouling, graffiti and vandalism, overhanging trees/hedges, flytipping and litter.
  • You would make a pledge to set an example to your family, friends and neighbours by caring for your community as much as you can such as you would not drop litter (including cigarette butts if you are a smoker); you would  always take your larger items to the civic amenity sites; and if you are a dog owner you will make sure you clean up your pet’s mess and put it in a dog waste bin.
