Braintree District Volunteer Awards terms and conditions

  1. For the purposes of these awards we define volunteering as: Activity that involves spending time, unpaid, doing something that benefits someone (individuals or groups) or the environment. This can include formal activity undertaken through public, private and voluntary organisations as well as informal community participation and social action.
  2. Nominations will open on 3 February 2020 and we must receive them by 5pm on 1 May 2020. We will only accept official nomination forms (paper copy or online). Only nominations received by this date will be considered. We do not take responsibility for nominations we receive after the closure date.
  3. Nominations must have volunteered within the Braintree District at some time in the year from April 2019 to April 2020.
  4. Nominations are invited from voluntary and community sector organisations, schools, members of the public or any organisation, business or enterprise.
  5. The judges’ decision is final. The judges will make their decision on the information on the nomination form. We will not enter in to any discussion about the decisions.
  6. The judges reserve the right not to make an award in any category if they consider nominations to be unsuitable
  7. We will use the nomination details including nominee’s information for publicity including photographs, media and/or articles for promotional purposes.
  8. We will hold any Information from the nomination process in line with our privacy policy
  9. You cannot nominate your self for an award. You can nominate a relative.
  10. You can make as many nominations as you want to. Each nomination must be n a separate form.
  11. Nominees can only win one award except for the Young Volunteer of the Year and Volunteer of the Year. The judges will select from the winners of each of the four categories.
  12. If a nominee is under 16 years old you must get the permission of their parent or guardian before you nominate them.
  13. Winners will receive a plaque and certificate. There is no cash or alternative award available, in whole or in part.
  14. We reserve the to withhold, change or cancel the awards in the event of non-compliance with these rules
  15. Entry in the awards signifies your acceptance of these terms and conditions
