Additional Restrictions Grant

The application window for the Additional Restrictions Grant scheme, covering the impact of the lockdown restrictions from 3 December 2020 to 8 March 2021, is now closed.

We will update this page if we make more phases available. We also advise businesses via our Braintree District Business Facebook  group and Business Newsletter.

Business Adaptation Grant

Essex County Council has allocated £198,000 in financial support to help the businesses in our district impacted by COVID-19 restrictions.

We are offering Grants of £500, £1,000 and £1,500 these will be awarded based on the need of individual businesses.

Closed Businesses Lockdown Payment

On 5 January, the government announced that businesses in the retail, hospitality and leisure sectors are to receive a one-off top up grant.

The Closed Businesses Lockdown Payment supports businesses that have been required to close due to the national restrictions that began on 5 January 2021.

Eligible businesses may be entitled to a one-off cash grant of up to £9,000.

The eligibility criteria has now been published on GOV.UK. The full details can be found in our closed businesses lockdown payment policy.

We will automatically process these payments to all the eligible businesses registered on our system. Businesses will not need to reapply for this grant. 

The deadline to apply for the Closed Businesses Lockdown Payment is 31 March 2021.

Essex County Council Additional Business Support Fund and Business Adaptation Grant Schemes

We are waiting for the funding to be released from Essex County Council before we can open up applications for these two schemes. We will advise via our Braintree District Business Facebook  group and Business Newsletter once the application window is open.

Local Restrictions Support Grant (closed)

This grant is for business rate payers mandated to close due to local or national restrictions to reduce the spread of the coronavirus.

Local Restrictions Support Grant (open)

This grant is for business rate payers not forced to close, but impacted by the social restrictions imposed at High Alert (Tier 2) and Very High (Tier 3) levels.

This support is for businesses within the hospitality, leisure and accommodation sectors.

The Restart Grant scheme supports eligible businesses with a one-off grant, to reopen safely as COVID-19 restrictions lift.
