Cycling in Braintree

It's not that well-known but Braintree has a wonderful hidden network of great traffic-free and quiet cycle paths which means you can get anywhere around the town and then out along stunning routes such as the Flitch Way and around Great Notley Country Park.

Traffic free cycle routes

The rides are gentle and friendly, travelling as far as possible on traffic-free cycle routes. All rides are led by experienced ride leaders and the emphasis is on fun and sociability. No need to book but it helps us if you can tell us that you're coming beforehand.

What are the cycle routes?

When are the cycle rides?

The rides will meet weekly at Cycles UK, Great Square, Braintree at 11am and the shop will even offer quick bike checks and a chance to pump up your tyres before the ride.

We've got rides every Wednesday, and the occasional Sunday ride.

And, if you prefer your cycling a little more fast-paced with ramps and turns to fly around then there's the wonderful Braintree BMX Club near Towerlands. A great facility for young people, and the young at heart.
