The joint parking initiative, known as
‘Parking Partnership’ will be
responsible for car-parks in North Essex, plus all on-street
parking services currently provided by
Essex County
Council.
The Partnership’s aim is to provide the same level of service
across all three authorities, making savings where possible, but
ensuring that service is at a consistently high standard.
Key benefits for residents will include:
<> Less inconvenience and danger from illegal
parking, through more efficient deployment of Parking
Attendants
<> More responsive to customer requirements when
issuing permits, dealing with enforcement and appeals, through use
of new technology
<> Greater value for money from reduced
management and admin costs
The new service will be run from Rowan House in Colchester, with
front-line staff based locally in each area. A joint committee,
consisting of councillors from all three authorities, will oversee
the service.
There will not be any designated parking staff available at the
relevant local offices and all correspondence will be handled by
the central office in Colchester, although written appeals against
penalty charge notices may be handed in at the local offices.
Appeals can also be made online.
Please note that all appeals must be made in writing and decisions
cannot be given over the telephone.
