If you find that your mail / deliveries are going astray, you can check with us that your address is held correctly on the Royal Mail Postal Address Finder.  If you wish to change the name of or add a new name to your property, you should always check with the Council first to ensure there are no other properties in the vicinity with a similar name.  Your address will not be recognised by various organisations, for example when ordering goods over the internet, unless you have registered any changes to it with us first.  The Council is responsible for notifying various responsible authorities, including the Royal Mail, emergency services, District Valuation Office, Land Registry together with internal Council departments of amendments to resident's addresses.  If you notify Royal Mail direct, no action will be taken until they receive an official notification from the Council.
