friendly helpful team of Building Control Surveyors and
administration officers provide impartial advice and assistance to
the public and/or their agents, architects, builders, developers,
and other professionals on matters relating to the Building
Regulations.

We have a vast archive of local knowledge of sites in our district
and can utilise this to offer knowledge based pre-application
advice.
We are locally based so we are able to respond very quickly to on
site construction needs if required

Site visits at short notice and will carry out same-day inspections
if contacted before 10am on that day.
We are committed to maintaining the highest standards and ensuring
that the built environment in which we all live, work and play is
safe and healthy.
We will work with you to achieve quality construction that meets
the building standards. Whether you are an architect, builder or
householder carrying out DIY, you can rely on us.
We offer surgeries with access to Building Control Surveyors on a
Monday, Wednesday and Friday afternoon to offer free advice on
building projects.
We are publicly accountable.
We will work with other representatives of the Local Authority and
associated agencies to assist your project.
Provide free Pre-application advice.
Provide a dedicated project surveyor providing a single point of
contact.
We can accept applications electronically.
Our aim is to ensure the smooth progress of the works from
submission to completion.
What we do
The main function of the Building Control Service is to ensure
that building works are undertaken in accordance with the technical
standards covering the design and construction of buildings
referred to in the Building Regulations.
We do this mainly by checking and approving plans of the
proposed works and carrying out site inspection to ensure that the
works are built in accordance with the Building Regulations.
