Consultants Llewelyn Davies Yeang have prepared a new Urban Capacity Study in 2007 on behalf of Braintree District Council. This forms part of the evidence base for the Local Development Framework. The Study covers the settlements of Braintree, Witham, Halstead, Great Notley, Coggeshall, Earls Colne, Feering, Hatfield Peverel, Kelvedon, Sible Hedingham, and Silver End. It assesses the potential for accommodating new housing within the existing development boundaries of these settlements.

The Study will assist the Council in developing its planning strategy for the period to 2025 and beyond. It is not a site allocations document and it will be for landowners and the planning process to decide which sites come forward for development.
