The Allocations Document is a Development Plan Document (DPD) forming part of the Local Development Framework (LDF).  It sets out detailed allocations for housing, employment, retail and other major land uses.

The Allocations Document will cover the whole of the Braintree District and must be consistent with national policy and the East of England Plan.

Work commenced on the Allocations Document in September 2007.  During the Core Strategy Issues and Options consultation period we received many representations proposing sites, which landowners and developers wanted the Council to consider, when preparing the Core Strategy Preferred Options and the Allocations documents.  Further site requests were invited during the period from 28th August to 17th September and these were collated in the Sites Proposed for Development in Local Development Framework document Volume 1 Urban Responses and Volume 2 Rural Responses.

Additional sites have since been submitted and the Sites Proposed document has been revised.  If you have not yet submitted a site you still have the opportunity to do so.  Please send a plan marked with the outline of the site, the approximate size in hectares and a brief description of the proposed use of the site.  This document will be revised again in Spring 2009 and any advised amendments to Revision B will be held on file until that time.  The information gathered will help inform the Council’s future Allocations Development Plan Document.  (The Sites Proposed document will continue to be amended and updated for some time to come until formal public consultation on the Allocations Document commences, currently anticipated in approximately 2010).
