Silver End was founded by Francis H Crittall and built between 1926
and 1932 to house workers at Crittall’s factory. The village was
planned as a model village and is nationally recognised as an
important example of modern architecture and planning. In order to
conserve and enhance the village, a Conservation Area was
designated in 1983, followed by an Article 4 Direction.
