Superb new pool open in Braintree -

The superb new Braintree Swimming Centre is now open, it is the second new swimming pool built in the district in recent years.

The £7.5 million development was opened on 29th  March by Council Chairman Lady Patricia Newton with special guest, paralympic gold medallist Giles Long, TV Character SpongeBob Squarepants and with the help of youngsters from the Braintree & Bocking Swimming Club. 

Councillor Wendy Scmitt is the Council's cabinet member for heathly living. She says: " The new swimming centre is just fantastic and a testament to the determination of so may people who have worked together to make it a success. Councillors, local clubs, DC Leisure Management, Braintree Freeport and staff at the Council and the construction company: everyone has helped this pool to become a reality. It's modern and bright and a great addition to the variety of attractions at Freeport"

Prices at the new pool will be

Adults = £3.50

Juniors = £2.65

Child aged 3 - 5 = £1.45

Children under 3 = Free

Family Ticket = £9.50

Are you eligible for a Leisure Card?

The Leisure Card is a discount card that has been launched by Braintree District Council and Braintree District Leisure Community Association. The card entitles the holder to reduced entry charges on casual pay and play sessions.

The reduced charge is applicable between opening and 5.00pm, 9.30pm till close Monday to Friday and after 12.00 noon at weekends for Pay & Play activities provided directly by the Centre. Discounts made against the adult standard rate.
