The Olympic Torch Relay Comes to the Braintree
District
The Olympic spotlight is set to shine on the Braintree
district following the announcement that the London
2012 Olympic Torch Relay, which marks the countdown to the start of
the Games, will pass through Hatfield Peverel on its way to the
Olympic stadium on Friday 6th July at approximately 8.30am.
The Relay will begin just past the entrance to Gleneagles Way,
heading on The Street before turning left into Maldon Road. The
Relay will continue down Maldon Road past the Village Hall
concluding at the green on the junction of Ulting Road.
Braintree District Council's Community Development Team are
pleased to be working with Hatfield Peverel Parish Council, Essex
County Council, Essex Police, local schools and other partner
agencies to support the delivery of the Torch Relay in Hatfield
Peverel on the day.
Details of traffic management plans and other special
arrangements are in the process of being finalised and will be made
public closer to the event.

If you cant get to the Hatfield Peverel Torch Relay, don't

Organise Your Own Olympic and Paralympic Games Themed
Event
The 'Local Leaders' initiative is an invitation to people to
take the 2012 Games into their community and create their own
celebrations next year, for the Olympic Torch Relay and other key
moments during the Olympic and Paralympic Games. People are
encouraged to sign up to the Local Leader Programme at

to receive further information on a range of themed celebration
ideas focusing on the Opening Ceremony evening, planting schemes
and barbecues and be in the front row to receive free London 2012
event materials to support events.

The 'Get Set for the Olympic Torch Relay' education resource,
available to all schools registered with Get Set, London 2012's
official education programme.
