With over 60,000 textile samples as well as designs and documents linked to many influential designers, the Warner Textile Archive is an excellent resource for all research into fabric design and production. The Victoria & Albert Museum - the V&A's textiles collection spans over 2000 years and represents techniques including weaving, printing and embroidery. Many examples of Warner fabrics are also kept at the V&A, and their website is an essential starting point.

Macclesfield Silk Museum - for the definitive story of silk, Macclesfield is the place to be; the museum includes a working Victorian silk mill and displays of costumes and manufacturing methods.

Whitworth Art Gallery - part of the University of Manchester, this collection is home to some of the UK's finest art and design objects, including prints, textiles and wallpapers.

Geffrye Museum - this attraction shows the changing style of the English domestic interior in a series of period rooms from 1600 to the present day, including interior textiles.

The Textile Society - this is a unique forum for textile professionals and enthusiasts, which promotes the study of textiles and celebrates the history and culture surrounding the medium. Their website is an excellent destination for researchers.

The Costume Society - this body promotes every aspect of the study of clothing and textiles, with members including  academics, collectors, curators, designers, re-enactors, students and informed enthusiasts.

The Textile Directory - a comprehensive resource for textile related art, craft, fashion and interior decoration, the Textile Directory invites all researchers, designers and enthusiasts to sign up and get involved on their website.
