Braintree District Museum collects material relevant to the
personal lives of Braintree people throughout history. Social
history is the most diverse category within our collections, with
items charting local peoples' employment, family life, education
and recreation over time.
- Our collection of photographs, magazines and other
ephemera sheds light on local education, healthcare, and
military service in the Braintree area.
- Household furniture and domestic equipment illuminates the
lifestyles of Braintree people at home, and we have a growing
collection of recreational material such as theatre entertainment
and children's toys.
- The Museum houses a diverse collection of pieces
relating to local crafts and employment. This includes craftsmen's
tools, printing equipment and clockmaking material, as well as a
growing collection of Crittalls catalogues and
records.
