Making the Braintree District a better place to live, work and play is a key objective for the council. The authority knows that a large part of improving the quality of life for people in its district is attracting varied employment opportunities for its residents. The council therefore intends to continue working closely with the business sector to maintain and provide quality employment within the district. Similarly we will continue to encourage development and availability of learning opportunities for our residents.

Obviously the council is a major employer in its own right, employing approximately 800 people.
