Housing Strategy *

The Housing Strategy is the overarching document that sits above the suite of strategies that target specific housing issues.

The draft housing strategy was released in summer 2009 and was consulted on during July to September 2009.

During the consultation period we held workshops around rural housing, physical and social environment and housing needs of older people.  We also worked with Care and Repair England and Greenfields Community Housing to hold an event inviting older people to discuss and debate the housing issues raised in the draft Housing Strategy.

Additionally we attended local groups and meetings to discuss the draft Housing Strategy.  We also facilitated further feedback and comments with an online form which was available on the councils website.

Following the closure of the consultation period in September, we analysed the feedback and comments received and produced the finalised Housing Strategy.

Housing Issues and Options Consultation Document

As part of our research and consultation for the housing strategy we released our "Housing Issues and Options" document.  The document intended to be a thought-provoking look at how we operate in housing, and set out to:

- identify the main housing issues for the District;
- identify the resources available;
- discuss the potential options available to use; and hopefully
- encourage debate on the options we should choose
