Empty Homes Strategy *

We are committed to meeting the housing needs of local people across the district and to help create sustainable neighbourhoods.  By working with our communities, partner organisations and landlords, we aim to help meet this need by identifying empty properties and returning them to use.

We have developed an Empty Homes Strategy for the District for 2010 and 2014 which details how we intend to meet the following aims.

1. Reduce the number of long-term mepty properties in the district;
2. Provide a range of incentives to owners to help bring empty homes back into use;
3. Provide schemes that make empty homes available to people in housing need; and
4. Consider whether enforcement action is appropriate and value for money

The full strategy is available by using the link in the box on the right hand side.
