Strategies *

Our approach to housing strategy has been to develop a suite of individual strategies to target specific areas of housing.  These sub-strategies sit underneath and feed into the overarching Housing Strategy.

The main Housing Strategy pulls together the fundamental points from each of the sub-strategies and presents housing issues on a local and sub-regional level.

Whilst developing the Housing Strategy 2009-2014 we undertook 3 months of consultation which involved:
 -the development and circulation of the "Housing Issues and Options" document which sought to raise the current housing issues for debate and discussion (the document can be viewed by selecting the "Housing Strategy" tab to the left hand-side of the page);
-Holding workshops with stakeholders to discuss key housing issues in greater detail.  Workshops were held on rural housing, the physical and social environment and two workshops were held regarding housing and older people.

We have also completed the following sub-strategies since late 2008;

-Affordable Housing Strategy 2009 to 2014; and

-Homelessness Strategy and Review 2008 to 2013

You can access these documents by using the navigation tabs to the left hand-side of the page.

Greater Haven Gateway Sub-regional Housing Strategy
In addition to the housing strategies we have developed for the district, we have also helped develop a housing strategy for the Greater Haven Gateway sub-region with partner local authorities Babergh, Colchester, Ipswich, Maldon, Mid Suffolk, Suffolk Coastal and Tendring.

The strategy sets out the Greater Haven Gateways key ideas and plans for strategic housing in the sub-region and provides a statement about out business goals, the reasons why we have chosen them and the plan for achieving them.
