Who will be eligible for the Scheme?

Applicants must be:          

Homeless or threatened with being homeless

On a low income or benefits

Have a local connection to the area

Every applicant will be given an interview with a Housing Options Officer to establish their ability to pay the rent and to check their eligibility for the scheme.

What else can the Scheme offer landlords?

Braintree District Council will offer advice and support with:

An inventory complete with digital photos ( if required)

Provision of standard tenancy agreement

Provision of assistance to the tenant with the completion of Housing Benefit application form

General advice on tenancy matters including bringing a tenancy to an end.

Introduce prospective tenants, reducing agents/advertising costs

Advice as to the rights and obligations of both tenant and landlord

Advice on the Housing Benefits System

Advice on tenancy agreements and notices

Advice on what is a reasonable rent

Support available throughout the tenancy to resolve any housing benefit or other issues.
