What is Carecall ?

An effective alarm system for older vulnerable or disabled people living in their own homes to call for emergency help or to identify potential hazards such as falls, floods or bogus callers.

Carecall is a service proved by Mid Essex Primary Care Trust.  Apart from providing services to people living in their own homes, Carecall also covers sheltered housing tenants when Carecall Scheme Co-ordinators are off duty.

How does Carecall work?

You or your telecare device can call for help from anywhere in your home and get straight through to the Control Centre – manned 24 hours a day by trained staff.  They can get you any emergency help that you may need.

What happens when I call for help?

Once connected to the Control Centre, it automatically identifies you and your address – in seconds.  You can talk to the controller and if needed, help can be on its way in minutes.  The Control Centre can contact friends/relatives and the emergency services so not only do you get the help you need, your family can assist as well.

Is Carecall expensive?

No.  it costs very little each week and Mobile Co-ordinators can also offer basic advice on benefits that you may be entitled to apply for.

What you get:

- An easy to use alarm – with a pendant trigger so it’s always with you.

- A round-the-clock link to the Control Centre

- Peace of mind in the knowledge that help will be there if and when required

- Regular checks on the equipment by the Carecall team

What do I need to have the system fitted at my home?

A BT phone socket and an electrical power point – simple as that!  You can still use your phone as normal as the Carecall system only takes over when you call for help.  All the alarm units are regularly checked after they are installed to make sure they are in perfect working order.
