We aim to produce new homes for social rent that are of high quality and that meet the needs of local people.  An example of this aim is stated in our Draft Affordable Housing Strategy (please see link on right-hand side to retrieve document) whereby we require all new affordable homes to be built to the Lifetime Homes Standard.

During 2008/09 110 new affordable homes were completed across the district and a further 171new affordable homes followed in 2009/2010.  New homes have been delivered across Braintree, Halstead and Witham as well as throughout the surrounding areas.

More than 100 new affordable homes are expected to be completed during 2010/2011 and will include 55 extra care flats at Helen Court in Witham.
