Child Support Agency

Is responsible for running the child support system. It assesses, collects and pays Child Support Maintenance, ensuring that children whose parents do not live together are financially supported.

Citizens Advice Bureau

The Citizens Advice Service helps people resolve their legal, money and other problems by providing free, independent and confidential advice.

Disability and Carers Service

Support disabled people and their carers, whether or not they work. It is responsible for delivering Attendance Allowance, Disability Living Allowance and Carer's Allowance.

The Homes and Communities Agency (HCA)

The HCA is the government agency that funds new affordable homes  in England.

The Tenant Services Authority (TSA)

The TSA regulate affordable housing, making sure that housing associations are financially viable and well governed.

HM Revenue & Customs

HMRC is responsible for collecting the bulk of tax revenue, as well as paying Tax Credits and Child Benefits.

Jobcentre Plus

The Job Centre Plus website provides an integrated service to people of working age. It offers help to people looking to move into work and support for people who can't.

Communities and Local Government

The CLG want everyone to have a decent home at a price they can afford whether they own or rent it. Their initiatives include help with home ownership, reducing homelessness and tackling anti-social behaviour.

The Pensions Service

This is a dedicated service for current and future pensioners. It provides state financial support to over 11 million pensioners delivered at a national and local level and in partnership with other organisations. It also helps people to plan and provide for retirement.

MIND

The Mid-Essex service started in Chelmsford, working from the statutory alcohol & drug centre ‘Changes', in Chelmsford. On March 21st 2005 we opened our own premises at 9 Coggeshall Road in Braintree - our third at the time. We still offer a service in Chelmsford providing keyworking, counselling and auricular acupuncture for one day per week. All body therapies are available at our Braintree site.

The Rent Service

The Rent Service is a government agency providing a rental valuation service to local authorities in England, supplying them with a range of valuations to assist them in settling claims for housing benefit.

Shelter

Shelter helps people in housing need through their Housing Aid Centres and practical projects, plus on the phone and the web.  This website covers areas such as emergency help and advice, homelessness, repossession, paying for a home, renting and leasehold, eviction and families and relationships. Shelter is the leading expert on housing in Britain. Their policy team are constantly developing new, practical solutions to ending the housing crisis.
