Green Hearted pupils do their bit to keep their local
area clean and green
Primary school pupils from Gt Bradfords, Lyons Hall and Beckers
Green Schools did their bit for Braintree District Council’s Green
Heart of Essex campaign when they got together to take part in a
local litter pick.
Braintree District Council organised the event, which took place
on 20th February, after local councillors called on the council to
help tackle litter around Coggeshall Rd / Tesco Marks Farm
area.
Tesco’s staff, Braintree District Councillors and staff, Karen
Brown of Pride on our Patch and local Police Community Support
Officers lead the clean-up and the council supplied litter picks
and waste bags on the day. More litter picks will take place
over the coming weeks and Tesco will offer prizes to the schools
involved.
Cllr Wendy Schmitt, Cabinet Member for the Green Heart of
Essex said; “The Green Heart of Essex campaign is very much
about getting volunteers involved to help keep their local areas
clean and green. We are very grateful for the support of the local
primary schools whose pupils are so willing to do their bit to help
and show how much they too hate litter.”
Braintree District Council has had a fantastic response to its
latest recruitment drive for Green Heart Champion Schools .
In the last few months a further 15 primary schools have all
pledged their support to the Green Heart, Gt Bradfords, Lyons Hall
and Beckers Green Primary Schools being three of them. If your
school wishes to become a Green Heart School Champion please
