A Customers Guide to Street Scene at Braintree:

- 1. What is Street Scene?

Street Scene is part of the Council's Environmental Services Department that incorporates a number of services that have an important impact on the 'street' and public open spaces in terms of their appearance and condition. It is one of the few services that in some way or other affects all of the population living, working and visiting our District. Keeping our streets and our open spaces looking clean and tidy and well maintained is one of the Council's key priorities within its overall Direction and Ambition. These are:

<> Create a Cleaner and Greener District

<> Help People Feel Safe and Well

<> A Better Place to Live Work and Play

<> Improve Performance and Deliver Better Value

The Services have been integrated to improve their management and co-ordination and to develop a multi dimensioned service approach, aimed directly at making them more accessible to Customers, whilst ensuring that they meet local needs through high levels of performance and Customer satisfaction.

This guide is intended to tell you about the Services that we deliver in more detail.

Other Organisations also have a responsibility for some aspects of Street Scene, such as highway maintenance, street lighting, weed killing.

To ensure an effective partnership we will:

<> Co-ordinate our own work wherever possible with that of others.

<> Work with Residents to improve the street scene as we recognise this has a significant impact on people's quality of life who live and work in our District.
